What is Pilates?
Pilates was developed in the 1920's by legendary physical trainer Joseph H. Pilates. The Pilates Method is an exercise system which focuses on increasing flexibility and strength to build more defined, longer, leaner muscles. Each exercise emphasises precision of movement, concentration, correct alignment and control.
Modern Pilates is literally a modern approach to Pilates based exercise. It is a combination of stability techniques used in physiotherapy and traditional Pilates movements. Modern Pilates addresses both the mind and body in its approach to teaching and exercise programming.
